Race brake brackets

By request from a few customers I am making a short 10 set production run of the brackets that i use in my MR2 Spyder race car. This is potentially the only production run for these brackets. The only unique part is the brackets so they can be purchased alone if desired.

There are several things to note with this setup:

  • These do not have a park brake provision. There is room to add it but the bracket to do so does not currently exist.

  • The front brackets include support for a 2” OD metal tube to be welded in to assist in cooling duct installation. The cooling ducts are unlikely to be needed for most installations.

  • These brakes technically fit with the stock 15” wheels but the clearance is too small to be comfortable. With the higher clearance but more expensive calipers these should be usable with stock wheels.

  • The pistons are quite large on these making the pedal effort quite low. Some people may want to run these without assist or with reduced assist. With full vacuum assist these may feel too sensitive to some people. You can also match these up with smaller pistons to increase the pedal effort.

  • The calipers i use in the race car do not have dust seals. This is not appropriate for a car that sees significant normal road use. The 5.25” mounting pattern is shared with other wilwood calipers that do have dust seals if this is the intended usage.

Along with the brackets you will need the following parts:

  • Brake hoses

  • Front calipers (Wilwood 120-6816 or other compatible 5.25” lug mount caliper)

  • Rear calipers (Wilwood 120-6806 or other compatible 5.25” lug mount caliper)

  • Rotor hats (Wilwood 170-10200)

  • Hat Registration rings (Wilwood 300-11653)

  • Rotors (Wilwood 160-0471)

  • Hardware (knuckle to bracket, bracket to caliper and rotor to rotor hat)

  • Brake pads

Note: that the pre-safety wired option can add quite a bit of extra shipping costs depending on your location. It is very likely cheaper to just purchase the tools to do this yourself.
